Xiamen is a famous port city and tourist destination along the southeast coast of China. Boasting beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, the city is renowned as a “garden on the sea”. In September 2017, during the BRICS Summit successfully held in Xiamen, General Secretary Xi Jinping praised Xiamen as “a city of high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship” and “a city of high-value ecological gardens”. Xiamen is rich in urban form, with mountains, seas, and lakes strewn in an orderly manner. Western buildings, southern Fujian dwellings and overseas Chinese architecture contend, and modern urban customs and coastal scenery complement each other, making it a “natural photography studio”. Going forward, Xiamen will strive to develop cultural undertakings and industries, create a new example of a civilized city, stimulate cultural vitality, provide new impetus to cultural industries, and accelerate the building of a cultural center, a city of art and an island of music. The long-term settlement of the China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival (Golden Rooster Award Year) in Xiamen has not only boosted the growth of Xiamen’s film and TV industry, but also created greater opportunities for its upgrading, ushering in a new chapter for its development.
